Drumming Through the Jungle Reviews
“As a music therapist, I was excited to share Drumming with Dexter with my nephew and niece; both twins of 6 years old. The book is so interactive, engaging, and carries a powerful message of unity and acceptance. You can’t help but tap along as you read the rhythms. The illustrations are adorable! I highly recommend it.”
~Christine Stevens, Music Therapist (Upbeat Drum Circles)
“Generations Child and Elder Care invited Ed Keegan to demonstrate his skills with the staff and children of our seven child care centers. Ed worked with our staff to teach them drumming techniques that would be and enhancement when teaching and guiding children. We used the book and the drums to get everyone involved. Then he performed for the children and demonstrated the techniques. The book does a wonderful job of incorporating hands on learning with instruments and high quality literacy. Children are able to read the exciting story, enjoy the engaging pictures and then use instruments to experience the story in another way. The book and associated drumming activities were well received by everyone at Generations.”
~Regina Harris, Generations Child & Elder Care Director
“I got this book a couple of weeks ago. The kids, 3 and 2, love it and ask for it often. I think one of the attractions is that it is naturally interactive. It is more than just a cute story and pictures. After two or three readings my kids started imitating the characters’ drumming rhythms–now even doing them when we are not reading the book.”
